You can't take it with you when you go -Lexie Keck

The theme in The Pardoner’s Tale is that money can alter a decision and affect the way people think. This picture shows a man engulfed in his wealth, yet he is sitting by himself. The man in the picture can be compared to the man in The Pardoner’s Tale who goes off by himself back to town to fetch bread and wine for them to celebrate the findings. He is being selfish by poisoning the wine for the other two because he is greedy and wants all the wealth for himself. If the men in the story would have just shared it and not have been greedy wanting all of it for themselves only, they would all still be alive and have each other to celebrate with. The man in the picture has all the wealth, but has no one around him. He may have driven all of his friends away because the wealth got to his head which caused him to be greedy and led to him being alone. He also may look happy in the picture, but he may only be happy for the moment until he realizes that he may have lost everyone he cares about because greed got in the way of what is important. All in all, no matter how wealthy you become, always put your friends and family first because when you die, your friends and family won’t remember you for how much money you had, they will remember you for how you treated them.

  1. I loved the way you incorporated the theme with the picture. Especially by explaining how he his surrounded by his wealth but still remains all alone. I also agree with the comment about how he may be happy now but it may not be that way when he realizes the entirety of his overall situation. Very nice job!
